Phi Lambda Phi ΦΛΦ
Building a Better Brotherhood | One Man at a Time
Mission
Phi Lambda Phi or Phi Lam was a National Fraternity founded on the campus of Truman State University in June of 2002. Phi Lam prides itself on being the first organization on campus to abolish hazing. With this act, it created an environment of inclusion and acceptance. Phi Lam strives to provide an environment that fosters lifelong relationships, as well as academic excellence. The structure of the organization allows for deep and rich connections with every brother in the fraternity. Phi Lamb also has an extremely active alumni association that offers support and guidance from multiple generations of brothers. Phi Lam has supported philanthropies that include but are not limited to: The Foodbank of Northeast and Central Missouri and The Adair County Humane Society. Giving back to the community that has given so much to Phi Lam was one of the hallmarks of the organization and they strive to maintain it every semester.
History
Founded in 2002 when local brothers felt that their chapter was heading in a different direction than the PLX National Board. With the help of Doc Murray, brothers were able to found a new organization keeping the Phi Lam roots, but staying true to the values and principles of Phi Lambda Phi.
Though the fraternity has gone inactive with all chapters closing their doors, you can still see the old site at the Wayback Machine.
Membership
I joined Phi Lam as a sophomore at Truman, and quickly found friendship and brotherhood. For me, it was an avenue for responsibility and duty that shaped me from an untempered high school graduate to a prepared student ready to lead. In 2018, after serving a half-term as Vice President and following the departure of then-president Del Flanary, I was elected as President of Phi Lamb. With this newfound responsibility, I was shaped into the leader that I am today, unafraid to take command and encourage and coordinate my band of brothers through any trials.
